Our maternity leave with a summer baby (Cleo)

Cleo was born in the summer, in the hospital. That's why I found it nice to have a jacket with me for the first moments outside and the ride home.

In those first weeks, we mainly relied on wrap bodysuits with trousers and Hvid booties. They always fit well, were easy to put on and take off, and just felt comfortable for such a tiny body. I also liked a romper as a first outfit — soft, practical, and a complete set right away.

The first wool item we bought was the Joha sleeping bag. We used it a lot, especially on days when you're indoors a lot and the rhythm is still all over the place. And honestly: every time I pack it now as an order, it still feels a little special.

At that time, we mainly opted for cotton, but with what I know now, I would choose wool and wool/silk sooner. That breathes better and helps your baby regulate their temperature, even on warm days.

At home, we often used muslin cloths as blankets, but a wool blanket actually works just as well — even in the summer.

The items below are what we would choose now for a summer baby: soft, airy, and easy to use, without having to think too much about it.
